Karen Birna Thorvaldsdóttir received two doctoral training awards. One was from the Icelandic Gender Equality Fund 2019, Gender Equality Grant (no. 190036-0551) entitled “The Icelandic translation and adaptation of the Barriers to Help-Seeking for Trauma (BHS-TR) Scale: Cross-cultural cognitive interview study with survivors of gender-based violence.” She also received an award from the Icelandic Gender Equality Fund 2020, Gender Equality Grant (no. 200197-5501) entitled “Exploring the barriers that gender-based violence survivors in Iceland face while trying to seek and seeking help.”
